WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Darlington Football Club Foundation aims to improve the lives of people in Darlington and surrounding areas especially their health by promoting positive activity and lifestyles through education and engagement of young people and their families for the benefit of the whole community.
to encourage and advance the education of children and adults within the community with the purpose of promoting a healthy lifestyle;
to promote community involvement in healthy recreation by improving facilities and education in their use for the playing of sports especially to people and communities who have limited access to such places;
such other charitable purposes as may be determined by the trustees from time to time.
Steve Rose is Chief Executive of Catalyst Stockton-on-Tees, the voice, representation and support for Stockton-on-Tees’ VCSE community. Catalyst delivers the Stockton VCSE Strategy, which aims to ensure that the sector becomes stronger and more influential in the development of public policy as well as playing a full role in the delivery of services in the Borough.
Brian is semi-retired and is a volunteer for two other Darlington based charities. A trustee for Saint John of God Hospitaller Services, a national charity providing health and social care services to sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged people. A Trustee and Treasurer of Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington, the UK's leading charity working with older people.
Until very recently, Lisa was a Programme Manager for Groundwork NE & Cumbria (Grounwork is a charity that is seeking to transform lives in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities). Some words from Lisa about herself: “ I have lived in Darlington all my life except for three years when I lived in Leeds attending university completing a Sport Health Leisure and Nutrition degree. I've had a variety of different jobs from cleaning, to sales assistant, to media and marketing officer within a football organisation.
In 2019, Councillor Sajna Ali was elected to represent the Northgate Ward in Darlington with the highest vote share of any councillor who elected to stand there. With this overwhelming confidence in her compassion and dedication for her local area, she now looks forward to creating opportunities, safer streets and a community where everyone feels valued & cared about.
Andrew Brown OBE
Andy is the CEO & Accounting Officer of AdAstra Academy Trust. Darlington-born Andy was headteacher of West View Primary School, the Regional 2015 Pupil Premium Award winner from 1996-2016. He was up until 2018, Chair of the DfE Primary Headteacher’s Reference Group and was a National Leader of Education from 2007-2018.
Michelle Thompson BEM
Some words from Michelle about herself: “In 1995 I lost my 18-year-old sister to an aggressive form of teenage bone cancer and eight years later at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully, in 2004 I was given the all clear and since then I have ran, hiked and cycled all over the world raising money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of my brave little sister.
