"When men have a midlife crisis they buy a sports car; I started playing football again, having not played since 1997! I had seen women's recreational football advertised, and eventually summoned up the courage to go along in January 2023. I was a bit apprehensive and worried that everyone would be really young, really good, or all be friends, and i would be old, rubbish and feel like an outsider!! I couldn't have been more wrong. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and although i was one of the oldest, there were people of all ages and abilities. A couple of weeks in, I felt like a regular, and by August I had been persuaded to join a team. Over 2 years later, I still love going along on a Tuesday night, as however bad your day has beem, you always come away with a smile on your face."

"After spending years watching my son play football and always wanting to give it a go, the women's recreational football sessions became available. At first I thought, no way I don't even know how to play and surely I'm too old at 44. Over my time there my confidence has grown, I've lost weight and I've made a new social circle. If you are sat there thinking you cant then please come along and give it a try. I absolutely love it and i hate when i have to miss a session for work. If there were more women's sessions i would go. The girls who run it are fantastic and the girls attending really help you improve your game, whatever your ability. Its the best decision I ever made and I look forward to my Tuesday nights every week."
