Steve Rose’s career has included working in theatre, youth work and regeneration mostly in the voluntary sector. Graduating from Royal Central School Speech & Drama in 1982 he enjoyed a career in London that included six years being Chief Executive of a Youth Homelessness Day Centre in Kings Cross.

 

Steve moved to Darlington in 2003 to be with his partner who later became his wife. He was Chief Executive of the Darlington Regeneration Partnership for six years followed by becoming an independent consultant. As a consultant Steve worked for Catalyst Stockton-on-Tees to develop the Community Asset Transfer Programme which also led to the opportunity to become Chief Executive in 2013.

Steve has recently left Catalyst and is now working again as an independent consultant developing projects between sectors. He is chair of two charities – ONsite Community Building Trust and Darlington Football Club Foundation – both of which he was a founding member.

Steve is also an active member of Rotary Darlington and has taken on a variety of roles including being President in 2017-18. Steve will be District Governor in the North East for 2022-23.


Steve is a lifelong football fan, supporting Southampton as the club where he lived as a child.
