Last Thursday, Heathfield Primary and Whinfield Primary took to the 3G to represent Darlington at the National League Trust Tournament after winning the Darlington-wide tournaments held in November. There were 8 teams in the girls tournament and 7 teams in the boys from throughout the North-East such as Gateshead, Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and Scarborough.
Both teams progressed through to the semi-finals, finishing the round-robin in the top 4 places. Sadly the girls lost 1-0 in the Semi-Final to South Shields and came fourth overall. However, the boys beat York City on penalties in the Semi-Final and progressed to the final where they came across a very good Scunthorpe team and lost the final. However, the boys get a chance for revenge as both winning teams go through to the next round (the North Finals) and the winner of this will play at Wembley! Good luck Whinfield!
Huge thanks to Hartlepool who despite our rivalry did an amazing job of organising on the day.
