Where We Are Now – Growing Our Impact Across the Community

At Darlington FC Foundation, we continue to expand our work across the local community, delivering programmes that support participation in sport, physical activity and wellbeing.

Over the past year, we have delivered over 5,000 attendances across our sessions, engaging more than 1,000 individual participants. Our work spans a wide range of activities across schools and community settings, providing opportunities for people of all ages to get active and involved.

Our delivery includes school-based sessions such as PE, lunchtime and after-school clubs, alongside wider community programmes that support adults and different groups within the local area. This ensures that our provision is inclusive and accessible, allowing more people to benefit from regular physical activity.

Our participant data highlights both our reach and areas for future growth. Currently, 86% of our participants are male and 14% female, showing a clear opportunity to continue developing provision that engages more women and girls. In addition, 81% of our participants are aged over 18, demonstrating the strong role we play in supporting adult participation within the community, alongside our work with young people.

This work is increasingly important. National data from Sport England shows that many people are not meeting recommended activity levels, particularly in more disadvantaged communities. As a Foundation, we are proud to play a key role in addressing this locally by providing accessible and engaging opportunities to get active.

We continue to build strong relationships with schools, partners and local organisations, allowing us to respond to need and grow our provision in a meaningful way.

Looking ahead, we are focused on expanding our reach, increasing participation across underrepresented groups, and continuing to deliver high-quality programmes that make a positive impact across Darlington and the surrounding areas.
