On Sunday afternoon, a Think With Your Feet squad took on Carlisle ManvFat at Willington. After a couple of defeats in their last two games TWYF were determined not to lose this one and a seventeen goal thriller ensued!
Manager, Thompson made a few changes from the last game with the unavailability of red-card merchant Ash Waters and Chrissy Gunnell meaning starts for Sonny De Luca and Matty Wheeler who was also given the captain's armband after it was prized from previous captain Lynas.
The game was a slow start but TWYF went ahead after a lofted pass from Ladies Man Mallen allowed young-gun Marcus Benson to open the scoring. Shortly afterwards Lynas was fouled allowing the gaffer to open his account for the day from the penalty spot. He quickly doubled his tally with a left foot drive from 10 yards out before the floodgates opened and goals were scored from a number of players to make it 7-2 at Half Time!
With Thompson scoring 4 in the first half, he thought he might finally score 6 in a game but it wasn't to be. TWYF made a number of changes including bringing on goalkeeper Blewitt and he nearly did with Carlisle ManvFat deciding to bring on some ringers and before we knew it, it was 7-6!! Mallen steadied the ship with a glorious drive but lacklustre defending meant it was 8-7 within a minute or two. Gladly the TWYF boys decided to start passing again and made the final score 10-7.
A special mention to the ref Mr Ansboro who was exceptional apart from missing one clear penalty, he got nothing wrong.
